Mindfulness Training
A 8-week MBCT program to foster
equanimity and resilience

You're interested in deepening your understanding of your stress response cycle and how you may step out of it? You're looking for more ways to reduce anxiety, depressing thoughts, and pain?

Research has shown that the practice of mindfulness can enhance the ability to cope with stress and pain, and effectively relax body and mind.

MBCT (Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy) is recommended by the UK’s National Institute of Clinical Excellence and is as effective as drugs for preventing depression. But, more importantly, it also works for the rest of us who are struggling to keep up with the constant demands of the modern world.

This 8-week skills learning program enables us to become more familiar with the workings of our own mind and we learn to pay attention intentionally, in the present moment and non-judgementally. This is what mindfulness means

During this 8-week-course we will focus on

  • gentle and compassionate ways of being aware of bodily sensations, feelings and thoughts  from moment to moment;
  • developing mindful acceptance and acknowledgment of difficult and unwanted sensations, thoughts, and feelings;
  • understanding the stress cycle;
  • being able to choose the most skillful response to any difficult thought, feeling, and situation.

Classes are very experiential and involve a mixture of

  • mindful breathing, walking, sitting, stretching, eating, lying down;
  • teaching and dialog on mental processes, anxiety and stress cycles, acceptance, the process of quietening and observing the mind, compassion, and communication.

The program requires a commitment to daily practice (approximately 45 minutes) for optimal benefit. You will receive a workbook & CDs to guide you during the course and to support ongoing home use.
